A Strong Senior Class: Hard Work, Focus and Technical Progress
Today’s senior class was a truly outstanding session, demonstrating the commitment, discipline and determination of every student who attended. The afternoon began with a thorough and well-structured warm-up led by Sensei Steve, ensuring that all muscles were properly prepared for the demanding work ahead. A correct warm-up is vital for preventing injuries, improving technique and setting the right tone for the class, and today it was done professionally and with real focus.
What followed was two hours of solid training, covering all the key elements required for advanced progression. Students worked through kihon, ippons and a series of technical drills designed to refine precision, sharpen movement and develop stronger body control. The effort and concentration shown by everyone were clear from start to finish.
A major focus of the session was kata. We completed the full Heian series:
-
Heian Shodan
-
Heian Nidan
-
Heian Sandan
-
Heian Yondan
-
Heian Godan
Alongside this, all kata required for brown belt level were practised in detail, with attention given to stances, transitions, rhythm, and technique accuracy. It was encouraging to see how much improvement has been made and how confidently many students are now moving through their forms.
The hard work was evident. The room was filled with intensity, determination and genuine effort, with everyone pushing themselves to their limits. Although there is always more to refine and strengthen, progress is unmistakable. Our brown belts in particular are developing well, showing maturity, power and a growing command of their kata.
Overall, today’s senior class reflected everything we value: commitment, quality, and a drive to improve. It was a highly productive session and a strong step forward for everyone involved.
